[ As the self proclaimed 'devil' of this world, Homura was able to do as she pleased. More specifically, she had the ability to rewrite things in her favor. That's why she made Madoka the transfer student. It was her wish, after all; to be able to protect her and make her happy. Even if everything was warped, that alone would not change.

It was all out of love.

Maybe others wouldn't understand. She doubted Madoka would understand, either, being the girl who cared about so much that she sacrificed herself for everyone's sake. But that, too, was mistake. That much Homura knew. Becoming the Law of the Cycle meant pulling her away from her family. Her friends.

And she was the only one who could recall her, back then. And this time, this was the real Madoka. Not some fake.

So she's glad she can work on a project together, although not that the project is done, there's not much else to do except bring out some celebratory cake. ]

I suppose this is to a job well done.

how long I have waited for this moment

[Ever since that moment during her first day back in Japan, she's felt a sense of unease. There isn't anything she can do to fix it, or so she thinks, but the feeling has just continued to persist - that there's something she is supposed to do, supposed to be, but for some reason she just... can't...

For some reason, that feeling nags at her a lot when she'’s around Homura. And she doesn't like that, because even though they haven't known each other very long, Homura... She's...

For some reason, Homura is really important to Madoka.

She wishes it wasn't like this... That things could just be the way they're supposed to, and that she could just relax around the other girl, but...]

A-ah, I'm just glad we were able to finish... You did really well, Homura-chan.

[She's smiling, but there's something off about it.

Unnerved. Uncertain.

Scared. But of what? Who?]

And... Thank you for the cake, too...

[ Regardless of whether there's something about that smile or not, Homura is just simply glad that she's smiling. It's all that matters now; to see her never cry, never upset. She can never become the Law of the Cycle again; if she does, she'll be pulled away from her family and friends again.

She won't allow it. ]

But you're welcome. How is the cake? It's alright, isn't it?

I just did the best that I could... [She laughs a little sheepishly.] But thank you. I'm glad I could help.

[Something isn't right.

She's happy. Even if that feeling won't let her settle fully, she's happy to be here with Homura.

Mmhmm! [Madoka nods happily, smile wide on her face as she breaks off another piece with her fork.] It's delicious!

[She takes a bite, and the moment it hits her tongue-

A sound leaves her throat and her shoulders jerk. It almost feels like an out of body experience - she's aware of what's happening, but she doesn't really feel it happening to her. It's the reason Madoka is completely surprised when she realizes that she's crying.]

It's... really good, Homura-chan...

[ Homura listens but she doesn't actually say anything. At least not at first as she just simply watches Madoka rather carefully with bright eyes but when she starts to cry, that's when her eyes widen to the point where she's frozen up for a second before she moves from where she's sitting across from her to right next to her.

It's only proper this way, and-- ]

Are you okay, Madoka? [ Something tense fills the air as she asks that question, and she's definitely worried. ]

Ye- Yes, I-I'm fine! [She tries for a laugh, but it comes out as a broken, watery thing. Madoka also tries to smile, but it's just as unconvincing since the tears only come faster.] I'm sorry, I don't know why I'm...

[Yes, she does.

She knows why. Deep down, she knows.]

I'm...

[She opens her mouth to speak, and what she'd intended to say is not what leaves her lips.]

Are you really happy like this, Homura-chan?

[ Madoka says that she's fine but honestly? Homura isn't entirely convinced of her friend's words - if you could really, earnestly call her that, even though she'd like that very much. Taking out a handkerchief from her pocket, she hands it over with a small smile. ]

Here, use this. [ The smile that she wears seems to be just a little sad, however. ] I'm happy, though. I promise.

[Although Komaeda and Hanamura are tasked with preparations at the old building, Togami was not one to rest his laurels. That day, he found himself rushing from Rocketpunch Market to his cottage, and back. In the end, he left with two duralumin cases along with a few packs of junk food... because all the running in the sun surely burnt some calories.

It isn't until evening begins its slow approach that Togami realizes he overlooked something crucial. And how could he? As their leader, he had to account for the potential of injuries as well.

And that's how he wound up outside Tsumiki's home. He knocks on the door, unsure if she's inside or not.]

[Tsumiki squeaks and jumps the very moment she hears the knock on the door. Why would anybody care enough to come visit her? But she kills that hope as soon as it starts to spring up - much more likely is that it's someone finally here to give her the harsh treatments she's come to expect. The island will be the same as it was back home.

Making a pathetic noise, she pulls herself to her feet and makes her way over to the door. Tsumiki thought she could be useful here, perhaps, but it’s better to resolve herself to her fate now.

As she opens the door, another small sound slips out of her throat, this time of surprise. She really hadn't expected that the classmate to show up would be this one, and the fact that their self-appointed leader has actually showed up at her cabin... She trembles a little bit.]

U-um! H-hello, Togami-san... Is there anything I can help you with?

[A swift look into her room reveals it's just as assuming as his. The occasional decoration or two reflect her status as Super High School Level Nurse. Whoever organized this mess - Monomi? or was it really Monokuma? - Togami wryly assumes it was a part of keeping things 'in order' for their plot.

It was a way to keep them identified, to show that they weren't just random high school kids stranded on an island.

An identity... How interesting.]

I need medicine for tonight's party. As the Super High School Level Nurse, you will know exactly what we need. [Togami nudges the door a little wider, unmindful of Tsumiki.] You're coming with me.
